WHAT TO EXPECT
We are commemorating 160th anniversary of Florida Emancipation Day. On May 20, 1865, President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation was announced in Tallahassee, Florida. Join the Tampa Bay History Center and the Florida A&M University Brooksville Agricultural and Environmental Research Station for a Day of Healthy Family fun celebrating history and agriculture!
Florida Emancipation Day beginning at 10:00 am
- Opening Welcome: Fred Hearns, Curator of Black History, Tampa Bay History Center
- Opening Prayer – Pastor Freddie Hinson, Jr., New Hope Missionary Baptist Church
- Pledge of Allegiance & National Anthem — Soloist Santiago Pinkney, Springstead High School

- Readers of the Emancipation Proclamation (order may change): Dr. Fred J.
